Bengaluru has experienced another massive traffic jam owing to heavy rains and severe waterlogging across the city. The traffic jam lasted more than 2 hours, forcing many to abandon their vehicles to walk home.
People were left frustrated due to the lack of movement for hours on end. Many took to social media to voice their concerns.

One user wrote, “When it rains, it floods in Bengaluru. Poor drainage and infrastructure problems are always exposed during the monsoon. This is a disaster every year.”
Another user expressed his concerns by saying, “In this situation, if there is a medical emergency, then there is no chance of survival. Vehicles were not moving for almost 2.5 hours for just 2 km.”

Many videos of the locked traffic were circulated online, showing people walking along the flyovers. An under-construction building collapsed in one area, leading to the death of 5 people.
This situation exposes Bengaluru’s subpar city planning comprising inadequate drainage and traffic management systems.

There seems to be no serious action on the part of the authorities, despite such events happening on a yearly basis. The city’s inability to manage its growing population has been laid wide open in front of everyone to see.
The authorities seem pretty helpless as they have requested private companies to allow employees to work from home, and for private schools to remain closed.
