
A Delhi man who migrated to Canada has sparked a major discussion online after calling his move a “mistake.”
In a viral Reddit post, he claimed that international students were being exploited, and the reality of life abroad was far from what many in India imagined.

“The government and colleges have turned international students into a business. Once you land here, you realise you’ve been scammed,” he wrote, criticizing the work-life balance and lack of job opportunities.
He urged Indians to reconsider moving abroad, arguing that India’s economy is growing and offers better prospects without the hardships faced overseas.

His post resonated with many. A Toronto-based user commented, “I 100% agree. It’s just not worth it.” Another said, “The West is great if you have a stable job, but if you’re stuck in low-paying labor work, it’s a nightmare.”
However, not everyone shared this view. Some users pointed out that thorough research before moving was crucial. A Delhi resident who moved to Sydney in 2008 said, “Struggles in the beginning are normal, but with time, things improve.”
