Genesis Yasmine Mohanraj is a 34 year old Canadian rapper who has single handedly offended both Hindu and Christian religious sentiments. Famously known as Tommy Genesis she is half-Tamil and calls her music ‘fetish rap’ wherein she explores ideas like sexuality, gender and fashion with her music.

Her recent release True Blue has come under a severe target of the Hindus all over the world and it has also managed to offend Christians. In the music video she can be seen presenting herself as Maa Kali with blue paint all over her body and Indian attire.
She has hyper-sexualised this look and even uses a Christian cross in blasphemous ways. Viewers are reacting to the video calling it a publicity stunt that hurts religious sentiments, and they called it a cheap tactic to gain attention in the name of creativity.

There is no doubt that she has gained popularity by pulling off this stunt but will it really help her career in the longer run. Many are also supporting her and saying it might not be intentional.
But others feel that certainly the choice of attire and religious symbols are visibly used to generate a sense of spectacle. After much backlash many netizens have trolled her and they are demanding her to put the video down and apologise for hurting sentiments.
