A peculiar case of a woman in Kerala has accusing an Uber driver of sending her “creepy” messages on WhatsApp is raising concerns about privacy and passenger safety. As proof, she shared screenshots of the conversation on X, criticizing Uber India’s privacy settings and questioning how drivers could contact passengers after a ride.
According to the screenshots, the driver messaged her, attempting to remind her of a previous trip in Kochi. When she asked why he was contacting her, he enquired about the perfume she used. Disturbed by the messages, she blocked him and called out Uber for allowing such breaches of privacy.

Her post quickly gained attention, with several users urging her to file a police complaint. Many also demanded that Uber take strict action, emphasizing that passenger privacy and safety should be a top priority.
Uber responded to the matter, stating that rider and driver phone numbers are anonymized during trips. However, in this case, the driver accessed her number through a UPI app used for payment. The company reiterated that post-trip contact is strictly prohibited and confirmed that the driver’s access to the platform had been revoked.
