US Blocks Huge Apple Move

During a visit to Doha on May 15, 2025, Donald Trump criticized Apple CEO Tim Cook, saying the United States is “not interested in Apple building in India.”

His comments, filled with contradictions and nationalism, show once again why many see him as erratic and out of touch with global economics.

Trump wants Apple to manufacture only in the US, but this ignores how global companies actually work. Apple’s expansion in India is not just about saving money. It is a smart move to reduce dependence on China and use India’s skilled labor.

Building advanced products like iPhones needs a trained workforce and strong infrastructure. India offers both, especially with the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.

Trump accusing India of tariff aggression is ironic. He started trade wars with several countries during his presidency, including China and US allies. His own record on tariffs is one of conflict and inconsistency.

His recent actions suggest a shift against India. He has tried to mediate between India and Pakistan, sent aid to Pakistan, and now criticizes India for hosting Apple factories.

These moves are not just diplomatically unwise. They also ignore how global businesses operate. Companies like Apple go where there is talent, opportunity, and good policy, not where a politician tells them to go.

Trump can keep making wild statements, but that will not stop Apple from expanding in India. The company is focused on long-term strategy, not short-term political noise.
