Vinod Kambli, who was then thought to be the next big thing in cricket, had to leave the sport due to personal and on-field reasons.

People on social media have compared him with Prithvi Shaw, another cricketer who wasted his immense potential due to a lack of discipline.
Even then, people talked about Kambli’s poor financial condition as compared to Shaw, who is pretty well off financially due to the IPL.
Sachin Tendulkar received criticism for not providing financial and moral support to Kambli, even though they were inseparable as childhood friends.
