“What would you do if your partner needed a kidney from you?” Well, the answer depends on who you are and who is with you. A similar question was asked to a number of men and women on the streets of India, and the answers are astonishing.
Nearly all the women who were asked this question straight-up denied the possibility of giving up their kidneys, with a handful going as far as saying, “depends on the guy,” as if Indian women have become heartless.

The men, on the other hand, seem to have their kidneys sewn onto their sleeves. All of the guys said “yes,” going as far as saying, “this is what they signed up for.” The men appear to be ever ready to save the lives of their partners.
But is this true? Have Indian women actually become heartless? The statistics tell an entirely different story. The nephrologists at Hyderabad’s Osmania General Hospital revealed that up to 80% of the organ donors are women, while men lead in the recipient category.

This shows that women, even though stern about their priorities, are much more flexible in putting others before themselves. The men, however, due to the obvious differences in lifestyle, are more prone to organ damage and thus tend to be recipients.
This also highlights the fact that in India, even if a woman is not ready to commit, she is often forced into saving her partner, alongside those who do it willingly.

The stark difference between the claims and the actuality says a lot about the priorities of men and women in India, with women being a lot more altruistic than they give themselves credit for.
