Racist Trolling of Young IPL Star Sai Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan has been nothing but an amazing asset for both his team as well as the IPL, playing textbook cricket shots and dominating at a time when swinging the bat seems to get you all the glory.

Still, some of us Indians don’t seem too happy about a rare talent from our country, as we seem to be working actively in racism to show this talent his ‘actual place’.

Sai Sudharsan’s recent harmless social media post got many abusive comments due to his skin colour, as well as people shamelessly asking him to ‘clean their toilets’.

Is this the level of respect we want to give our homegrown talents? We cry about racism when we go abroad, but did anyone bother to notice this blatant use of racism here against our very own kind?

Maybe we don’t need to win world cups, maybe we are happy with the star culture we have, and anyone who tends to disrupt it would be judged on their skin colour regardless of their talent.

Brilliant talents like Sai Sudharsan will continue to get unnecessary abuse like this unless we look behind ourselves and ask if we have done even a fraction of what they are doing for the growth of Indian cricket.
