Former cricketer and broadcaster Sunil Gavaskar is known to give controversial statements, be it regarding cricket or other off-field stuff.

Gavaskar had earlier suggested that the remaining matches of the IPL do not have music and dancers to keep the mood sombre for those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam Terror attack and Pakistan’s subsequent cowardly attack on India.
However, this did not sit well with the public, as they told Gavaskar to either cancel the whole IPL or conduct it with all its perks, because after all, why do those in entertainment have to suffer if everyone else (BCCI, sponsors, and businessmen) is making the money they were intended to from these matches.

Ironically, Gavaskar himself was seen dancing with the robot dog two days after the Pahalgam terror attacks, which should never have happened according to his own rules.
With Gavaskar’s opinion turning out to be highly unpopular, it will be interesting to see if the BCCI will even think of implementing it as the resumption of the IPL.
