Royal Challengers, Bengaluru is already one of the most trolled IPL teams on social media due to the fact that they have no IPL trophies. Thanks to their latest management decision, they are leading to further trolls now.
The team announced Rajat Patidar as their new captain and unofficial communication to this effect was made a few minutes back.

This is appearing to be a very poorly calculated move by this franchise. While a talismanic player like Virat Kohli is on the ranks, not many would expect a player like Rajat Patidar to make captain.
Rajat is a fine batter no doubt. but Kohli is the big superstar here and he must be the natural favourite to retain captaincy post after Faf du Plessis opted out. Kohli is the real core of the team and he is the obvious fan favourite.

It would have made perfect cricketing and logical choice to have Kohli as the captain instead of a random player like Patidar.
No offence to Patidar here, he is a skilled batsman and has worked out well in the domestic circuits as well. But running a team like RCB as the captain is a completely different proposition.

After having lost Maxwell in the auction and previous captain, Faf, it would have made perfect sense to have a senior like Kohli to lead the side. But the management persuaded other options, much to the shock of everyone.
RCB is already a struggling franchise with no substantial success to show for themselves in the tournament. And on top of that, such incoherent decisions like the one taken today regarding the captain selection will only take down their prospects further.
