Virat Kohli Saves RCB

Cricket is nothing less than a religion when it comes to India. The sport has the potential to turn ordinary people into heroes and heroes into villains, even for the slightest of mistakes.

With the IPL around the corner, a video of ex-RCB captain Virat Kohli asking for appreciation for Rajat Patidar has gone viral.

In the video, Kohli can be seen rallying up the audience to stand behind Rajat, while reassuring everyone about his capabilities.

Seeing the video many couldn’t help but wonder if Kohli dodged a bullet by not going the Rohit Sharma way.

There was a huge fuss in the MI camp last year when the captaincy was given to Hardik Pandya.

This led to Hardik being booed a lot on and off the field, his grief evident from the tears visible throughout the tournament.

Rohit Sharma seemed to take full advantage of it, not even asking the crowd for a kinder gesture towards their captain. He even seemed to smile a few times during the initial stages of booing, revealing his somewhat selfish and self-centred nature.

Virat Kohli seems to have understood the dynamics and is portraying the captaincy change as a ‘passing the torch’ phenomenon rather than it being taken away from him.

It will be interesting to see whether Rajat Patidar can fulfil his responsibility to lead RCB towards their first IPL win.
