Usually, the captain of an IPL side is a talismanic player and the entire team is based around his gameplay and tactics. However, the 2025 IPL season is going to witness a complete makeover as three incumbent IPL captains are in the auction for the coming season.

The three captains are KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant. All three of these players are said to be in auction for the coming season.
What’s more interesting is that Iyer had even won the IPL just last year with KKR. This is the first time that an IPL-winning captain is entering the auction in the very next year.

Pant and Rahul had anyway been unsuccessful at their current franchises – Delhi and Lucknow respectively so the decision to switch things up is understandable.
Pant is being eyed up by CSK for the coming season and this would be a mega move if it happens. Iyer also has multiple suitors, say reports. KL Rahul is reportedly interested in RCB but this is bound to change on the auction day.

Moreover, this will be the first time in IPL history that three captains are switching sides in the same season.
