Director Lingusamy In Plans to Make Mahabharat

Making a film based on the Mahabharata is a massive challenge for any filmmaker. The budget, time, and elaborate sets required make it a daunting task. Large-scale sets, intricate costumes, high-end visual effects, and the fees of top actors add to the complexity.

While Indian audiences have had the opportunity to watch Mahabharata adaptations on television with limited budgets, bringing the entire epic to the big screen is not easy.

Surprisingly, director Lingusamy has now announced a film based on the Mahabharata. Given his recent string of disasters and diminished popularity, this announcement has come as a shock.

For years, legendary filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli has expressed interest in making a Mahabharata-based project but has not proceeded with it yet. Similarly, Aamir Khan also had planned Mahabharata project with a massive 1000 crores budget but was eventually shelved.

Now, Lingusamy has officially declared that he will make a Mahabharata film with a budget of 700 crores. The project will be made in two parts using advanced technology. Since extensive pre-production is required, shooting won’t begin immediately.

Lingusamy has been out of form for years, failing even with a mid-range hero like Ram Pothineni in The Warriorr. Now, announcing a Mahabharata adaptation looks like some kind of a joke.
