Rajinikanth’s Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is now in the final stages of shooting, and the Coolie team is planning to release the movie in August.
Earlier buzz suggested that the Coolie team was planning to postpone the release from August, as India’s most anticipated pan-Indian movie, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and NTR, is also releasing in August.

But now, according to reports, the Coolie team has almost locked August for release and is all set to clash with War 2.
After this, netizens on social media responded that Lokesh Kanagaraj should change the release date; otherwise, Coolie may face trouble acquiring theatres outside Tamil Nadu, as War 2 is one of the most anticipated movies of this year.

It seems like Lokesh Kanagaraj is overconfident with Coolie. If he manages to deliver Coolie with a pan-Indian appeal, mainly connecting with the Hindi audience, it could become a pan-Indian success. Otherwise, War 2 may easily crush Coolie in the clash, say the critics.
Also, it remains to be seen whether Coolie signs the 8-week OTT window and ensures a North Indian multiplex release, unlike Leo, which wasted its potential.

If the buzz turns out to be true and Coolie and War 2 clash in August, it will be one of the biggest clashes ever in the history of Indian cinema. However, there’s also a chance that both films may get affected due to the clash.
