Following Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly (GBU), the Kollywood industry is set for a string of high-profile releases, beginning with Suriya’s Retro on May 1st. Several major star movies have been scheduled for theatrical releases in the coming months.
In this scenario, there is now strong speculation that a star hero movie directed by a star director is more likely to get into controversies and face legal issues after its release because it has some scenes violating the sentiments of the Sri Lankan Tamil diaspora.

Following this buzz, many Kollywood audiences are predicting that it might be Suriya’s Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, as many of Karthik Subbaraj’s movies have references to Sri Lankan Tamil people.
At the same time, some trackers mentioned that it could be Sasi Kumar’s The Tourist Family, as in the trailer itself it was evident that it’s going to address some serious issues based on Sri Lankan Tamil people.

But Sasi Kumar is not a big hero, and The Tourist Family was directed by debutant director Abishan Jeevinth, so The Tourist Family might not be the movie the rumor suggests, say some netizens.
However, there still aren’t any clear updates on this, but if Retro gets caught up in the controversy, it could affect the box office collections of the movie, say trade experts.
