
Paid reviews for movies in Kollywood have become a hot topic of discussion after a televised debate went viral, pitting online movie reviewers against those who oppose them.
During the show, some online reviewers claimed there are no paid review campaigns in Kollywood, and only paid promotions are done by Instagram influencers.

However, a popular Kollywood producer and distributor recently revealed in an interview that many Tamil movie reviewers are charging exorbitant amounts to review medium-budget films.
He clarified that these reviewers believe their videos on medium-budget movies won’t attract significant views. Consequently, they skip reviewing such films unless a producer requests a review, at which point they demand a hefty fee.

He also added that the paid review culture is gradually increasing in Kollywood, with most reviewers charging a considerable sum to speak positively about a movie. This has now gone viral.
Following this, some budding directors have also voiced their concerns about this issue. Arvindh Srinivasan, a Kollywood director, has revealed that a reviewer demanded money to review his movies Dejavu and Tharunam, but he asked the producers to skip him, so the reviewer did not review his movies.

This topic has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many Kollywood audiences expressing concern that they can no longer trust any movie reviews, as most of them now appear to be paid and feel that paid review culture should be eradicated in Kollywood, as it will affect even some good movies to go unnoticed during its release and sometimes even it affects the collections of the movie.
