The impact is for all to see. A big change is the fact that the hiring of freshers is down due to increasing use of AI in companies.

The trend can be traced especially in top tech companies in the past few years, according to a report.

As per venture capitalist company SignalFire, the top tech companies’ entry-level intake is 15%. But that has come down to 7%. This means a 50% cut.

But experts say this is not temporary. It is what AI has done to the jobs, say industry experts. As artificial technology is gaining ground, the need for entry-level freshers has reduced, say experts.

Already, the tech companies are exiting employees in a big way. Recently, IBM laid off 8000 employees. Major cuts were in HR as AI was doing most of the work, say experts.

According to a survey by Wall Street Journal, the companies are giving preference to those with AI skills. Around 87% recruiters are on the lookout for freshers with AI skills according to experts.

In four jobs, one job requires AI skills in today’s scenario. But it’s not just freshers, the tech giants feel that mid-level engineers too can be replaced by AI.

In the coming 12-18 months, AI will do most of the coding in their Lama project, according to Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg. Already, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has revealed that the company is using AI for coding.




It is known that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has revealed that their company gets 20-30% coding done by AI.
