
The Internet is a place where sheer transparency adds to the fun element. Being able to see what people like or prefer, what their thoughts are and how other people react to their thoughts, is what makes the internet different.
But as we move into a world that is more susceptible to offence than ever before and even the slightest of banter can lead to a lot of drama, the social media giants are trying to play it safe. We have seen YouTube making dislikes private and the fans were surely not happy as it took away the transparency of content from the consumers. Privatisation on what one likes or prefers had the same impact.

Now Twitter, currently known as X has decided to privatise dislikes. By hiding the negative, of one thing, it does not become positive. Similarly, if someone’s view or thoughts have been disliked, people of the internet should be able to see it and form a view based on the stats they see.
Privatising the dislikes takes away the transparency of data.Elon Musk, the CEO of X, should be able to ignore the urge to play it safe and make his platform as much transparent as possible.
