Dharmesh Shah, Indian-origin founder and CTO of Hubspot, has struck a massive deal with the parent company of the AI software ChatGPT.
OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman recently posted a Chat.com URL on X, which redirects users straight to ChatGPT. This domain was previously owned by Shah, who bought it for $15 million in 2023.

The Indian-American entrepreneur was aware of the boom in AI chatbots and saw it as the “future of tech.” This is why he invested in this domain as a prime real estate for chat interfaces.
As evident, it paid him off big time as he resold the domain just after a few months and confirmed OpenAI as the buyer. Although he didn’t disclose the final price he suggested that it was definitely a profitable deal.
