
After being voted back to power, US President Donald Trump has put his iron foot forward in the matter of illegal immigrants. His move directed at illegal immigrants of all countries and it is impacting the Indians too. But what has raised concerns is the inhuman way in which they are being sent back.
Already batches of Indians have been sent back and the Ministry of External Affairs has given out a written statement saying that 295 more will be coming back soon.

The MEA also responded to the queries regarding the treatment of illegal migrants. They clarified it concerns them too and added that they took up the issue with the US.
The MEA shared that the US also responded amicably. After outrage in India, America did not chain women and children on board during deportation done on Feb 15 and 16. We confirmed the same from the deportees, MEA said.

It informed that 295 of those living illegally in the US are being sent back. The particular agencies are figuring out their details, said MEA.
From Feb 5, 2025, 388 illegal migrants have been sent back on military flights to India. But there was public outcry against the way they were chained and sent home.

The MEA too responded immediately and took up the issue with the US government. However, the MEA has pointed out that deportation by itself was not something new. Since 2009 to 2024, 15,500 people were deported back, it informed.
