The student recognized she was from his hometown and offered to help. Initially stopped by the facilitators, he was later called by the American visa officer to interpret.

Turns out, the woman had overstayed her last B2 visit by two years. A clear visa violation. Despite her emotional appeal, she was denied and her dream of reuniting with her daughter was shattered.
However, the kindness of the F-1 applicant didn’t go to waste.

The officer suddenly asked the student for his documents. Right there, no formal start, no waiting in the queue. Just an impromptu interview.
It went well as the visa officer seemed very friendly and courteous. He was not like the other officers who already had biases leading to rejections in minutes.
After the officer thanked the student for helping the woman, he simply asked for the passport and let the applicant go.
In a tumultuous time where the US visa process remains unpredictable, confusing, and cold, this story proves to be a classic example of how kindness always pays off.
