F1 Rejection

Amid rising US visa rejections, Indian applicants are being hit the hardest. Students aspiring to get F-1 visas are being denied without explanation as evident from a recent case at the Delhi consulate.

An Indian student took to social media to share details from his visa interview on April 22. The major deal breaker came when he was asked why he chose the University of West Alabama and he failed to give a clear answer.

“Ties with my home university and courses tailored to my previous experience,” the applicant said. According to the netizens, this might sound good on paper, but it didn’t make the visa officer feel confident. If you can’t explain why a university and program are a perfect fit for your career goals, approval is hard.

For many social media users applying to a state university without a solid reason is a major red flag. People suggested either come up with a solid reason or stick to top US colleges if you can.

However, nothing is certain in the current political climate. Your future is entirely on the whims of the visa officer taking your interview. While there have been other cases where people have got their F-1 without any issues, some are met with brutal denials in minutes.
