Tech giants in the US are hiring more and more Indian workers through H-1B visas. Though the companies cite a lack of skilled labor locally, there are other reasons behind this trend as well.
Indian workers are preferred because they work for significantly lower wages compared to American workers. This isn’t just a cost-cutting strategy, prioritizing cheaper H-1B employees, many of whom are brought in to replace already trained local labor.

Another reason is that the employees from the Indian community are more open to relocating near the office and more flexible with their work hours. This is why tech giants don’t fret over layoffs as Indians are always available at a cheaper pay grade.
According to the media, ex-Cognizant workers claim that this hiring practice is deeply embedded in the company, which led to many of their ilk losing their jobs. They felt that they were pushed out, while companies relied on cheaper and more flexible Indian labor.
