
For many Indians, getting an H-1B visa is a dream come true. But for some, it is turning into a nightmare.
One frustrated Indian H-1B shared his story exposing this harsh reality. He claims after years of trying, he finally landed a US job but he didn’t know how to negotiate.

His employer kept salary discussions vague which should have raised flags early on but he went through with the job. When the visa finally came, the company offered a salary of $50K-$60K.
By then, he already had a well-paying job in India which he left only because of his dreams of settling in the US.

Then came another shocker when the company refused to increase his pay and instead sponsored his wife’s H-1B. It seemed like a fair deal at the time, but he wasn’t aware of the upcoming betrayal.
Once his wife left her remote work and got to the US on an H4 visa, everything fell apart. His employer backed out of their promises and stopped responding to conversations.

Now they are struggling with one low income as the wife can’t get work on her H4 visa. With the current situation in the US quitting his job and looking for a new one sounds like an even bigger nightmare.
Many skilled workers from India are getting trapped like this. Companies know H-1Bs have limited options which is why they are exploiting their desperation.
In hindsight, the Indian couple is now regretting not doing their research properly. Everyone, should take note and never fall for such traps, especially when you see something odd about your employer.
