The filing was done by April 15, 2025. Yet, the petition expires on May 9, 2025. That’s fewer than 25 days from filing to expiry—and that’s where doubt starts.

Will the visa officer (VO) give a stamp for this short a period? Or is this the type of case that could result in a 221(g) request for additional information or even a denial?

Technically, they can grant the visa up to the petition’s validity, which in this instance is May 9. But most individuals don’t travel for such short periods, and officers are aware of that.

When the window is this tight, they sometimes send out 221(g) requesting an updated petition or an extension approval. Particularly in cases with no evident travel plan for a brief stay.
