Indian Lawyer Fired USA

An Indian-origin lawyer, Nabanita Nag, was recently fired from her position as Chief Legal Officer at Norfolk Southern Corporation in Atlanta due to allegations of an inappropriate romantic sexual relationship with the company’s CEO, Alan Shaw.

Although the relationship between Nabanita Nag and Alan Shaw was consensual, it was found to have violated the company’s policies and code of ethics, which led to the termination of both officials.

The investigation into the matter revealed that Alan Shaw and Nabanita Nag had breached corporate rules by being involved in this relationship, even though it was unrelated to the company’s performance or financial matters. As a result, the company decided to part ways with both executives.

Nabanita Nag, who joined Norfolk Southern in 2020 as General Counsel, had recently been promoted to the position of Chief Legal Officer in 2022 and Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs in 2023.

She is a highly experienced legal professional, having worked for prominent organizations such as Goldman Sachs before joining Norfolk Southern. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a law degree from New York University.

Following their termination, Mark R. George, who was the Chief Financial Officer, has been named as the new president and CEO of Norfolk Southern.
