Telugu Entrepreneur Preethi Kasireddy in US Sparks Parenting Debate

A Telugu-origin entrepreneur is under fire for controversial comments urging people in their 30s to prioritize having children over travel. Preethi Kasireddy, Co-Founder of Ferta, shared her opinion on X, sparking outrage online.

The Indian-American businesswoman criticized people for focusing on a “backpacking trip” and self-discovery instead of starting families. She claimed that parenthood offers unmatched personal growth, stating that “children will teach you more about yourself.”

Her post got over 5 lakh views and hundreds of comments, many of them criticizing her conservative ideas. Users called her out for being dismissive of an individual’s personal choice.

Some pointed out that parenting is not an endeavor to have self-growth, it is a vital moment for the child’s growth and a parent who is not prepared should never be forced into it.

Her cultural background also came under scrutiny. Many users noted that Kasireddy’s opinion was also formed by the persistent pressure within the Indian community to conform to traditional routes.

While she intended to inspire people, her route is questionable. Entering parenthood is a personal choice for everyone and not a demand at a certain age.
