According to the latest reports, Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi, a graduate student from Warangal, Telangana, studying in Milwaukee, who went missing on May 2 in Chicago has now been found in jail in Tucson, Arizona, with bail set at $50,000.
His father was seeking help from the government to bring him back safely. Rupesh wasn’t been in touch since May 2. His father reached out to authorities after his roommates informed him that Rupesh had left on April 30, saying he’d return in two days but didn’t.

They contacted the police and also reached out to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and the Indian Embassy.
The Consulate General of India in Chicago was working with the police and the Indian community to find Rupesh.

Rupesh, who came to the US in January 2024 for his master’s degree, was last seen driving to Houston, Texas, on April 22. He mentioned meeting family friends from Texas on May 2 and going on a trip. He hasn’t been reachable since.
His roommates reported him missing, but the police couldn’t track his phone without parental consent, which was later provided.
