Badass Ravikumar, starring Himesh Reshammiya, was released on February 7th. It’s been over three months since the film’s release, and fans have been wondering why it hasn’t dropped on any OTT platform yet.
The film became a talking point thanks to its music, clap-worthy dialogues, and spoof genre, and it was well-received by both audiences and critics. It was a classic massy film.

Yet, despite all the buzz, the film is still missing from OTT platforms.
The initial speculation among fans was that the makers might not have received a good deal from a streaming giant, a common reason for such delays.

However, according to recent reports, the actual reason is quite different.
Contrary to market perception, all major OTT platforms were interested in acquiring Badass Ravikumar. They were reportedly ready to pay a hefty amount, knowing the film had built goodwill and would likely attract a massive viewership due to its entertaining content.

As per the deal proposed by one OTT platform, Himesh was required to sign a contract allowing the platform to upload clips from the film on their official YouTube channel.
But Himesh Reshammiya, who is also the producer of the film, did not agree to this clause.
He wanted the OTT platform to only stream the full film, while he retained the exclusive rights to create and upload key scenes or clips on his own channel, Himesh Reshammiya Melodies.
This is also the reason he didn’t sell the music rights to any music company.
While both parties are now working toward a middle ground, fans are appreciating Himesh for standing firm and not surrendering to OTT giants.
It’s his film and his effort, and he has every right to seek a deal that aligns with his creative vision. Giving up all rights to OTT platforms isn’t always the best choice, especially when it comes to unique or independent projects.
