Not so long ago, Disney+ Hotstar was touted as a game-changer among streaming services, yet it now is greatly disliked by such users. At present, the biggest OTT giant is facing the heat for its alleged lack of concern for consumers by placing way too many ads.

Meanwhile, complaints about the ad bombardment have inundated social media. One user says that in a 20-minute episode, some ads were unskippable; more than a minute of unskippable ads were inserted every five minutes.

Another user posted how many ads were repeated and complained that he is seeing the “Brave New World” trailer so many times.

The feeling is pretty clear here: subscribers feel they’re being short-changed on a service they pay for. The most criticisms from many are that Disney+ Hotstar has not delivered on its promise to offer no ads as per the way good-old cable TV offers, where commercials do also occur.

With every complaint pouring in thick and fast, it would be interesting to witness whether Disney+ Hotstar would heed these remarks and get its act together to enhance the user experience.

In the meantime, discontentment among its users is growing at a fast pace, absorbing much of the charm that had so far been associated with the gigantic streaming service.
