
For the last couple of years, JioCinema has been streaming, the Indian Premier League free of cost. Additionally, the tournament was being streamed on Disney + Hotstar as well, but this was a paid subscription.
However, in view of the merger between Jio and Disney, their cumulative new platform Jio Hotstar will be the primary source of IPL henceforth.

On this note, it has been confirmed that IPL cannot be streamed free of cost on Jio Cinema henceforth. It is confirmed that JioCinema will not be streaming IPL from now on and the audience must move on to Jio Hotstar.
Incidentally, people can now watch IPL on Jio Hotstar only if they have a valid subscription plan with Jio starting from ₹149 per month.

This essentially means that the Jio users who have a valid data plan stream IPL free of cost. The rest of the focus must pay the subscription price of ₹149 per three months, which is again very nominal.
Back in the day, literally anyone and everyone could watch IPL free of cost with JioCinema, but that is not the case anymore with the introduction of Jio Hotstar platform.

Only those with valid subscription plans on Jio network can watch IPL free of cost while others will have to subscribe to Jio Hotstar henceforth. Will this show any sort of effect on the membership of IPL? There will certainly be some discrepancies due to the new model. But the extent of the same will be determined only after the start of the tournament.
