Theatrical Flops Find Surprise Success On OTT

2024 was not so easy for Bollywood since there were films that flopped despite getting positive reactions. This has happened many times in the past and the situation was not so different last year.

While some of them flopped, they were still able to get a huge audience on OTT and they continue to remain on top of the list of various platforms when it comes to viewership. Let’s have a look at five of them.

The first is Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira, a remake of Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru. The film was praised for its emotional sequences and Kumar’s performance.

Unfortunately, it failed to pull enough audiences to the big screen. However, people have continued watching it on Disney+ Hotstar.

The next is Khel Khel Mein, which also had Akshay playing an important role. The business of the comedy-drama was impacted due to competition with Stree 2, which started attracting viewers from paid previews. It still managed to get some amazing viewership after arriving on Netflix.

There was also Binny and Family, which created some hype after getting decent feedback on the first day of release. However, it still could not grab a lot of attention as per expectations. It is yet to be released on OTT.

Abhishek Bachchan is trying his best to get back his lost stardom on the big screen. But it seems like audiences have lost their interest in watching him again.

His latest film I Want To Talk was not loved by a majority of people, specifically for not featuring any entertaining elements and a lot of English dialogue. It is expected to arrive soon on OTT.

Last month, Anil Sharma’s Vanvaas was released in cinemas. The director expected people to come to the theatres like they did for his last film Gadar 2.

The film eventually flopped with very less collections and the major reason behind the failure was the outdated subject. An OTT release date is yet to be confirmed.
