Reliance’s Viacom 18 and Walt Disney’s Star India planned a merger and announced it on February 28th. Since all the investors and shareholders of both companies have approved it, it’s expected that CCI will give the green signal in October.

Once after the Viacom 18 and Star India merger, it will become one of the superior sports companies in the world, as it jointly has the streaming rights to several cricket tournaments, which include the Indian Premier League, Indian International Bilateral Series rights, and also the Pro Kabaddi League.

Both companies have planned and announced the merger on February 28th. Since the announcement, the investors and shareholders of both companies have approved the merger. The wait for the merger only awaits the approval of the CCI Competition Commission of India. It’s expected that once the competition inspector approves it, the merger will be completed by October. Also, in the case of the merger, both companies have already been referred to the NCLT (National Company Law Tribunal) for the final decision.

The CCI has already started to get views on the merger from different streaming services. If everything goes as planned, Viacom 18 and Star India will work together from October and will have all the potential to become the superior sports company in the world.
