Early Reviews OUT! Weak First Half, Strong Climax

Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur released limited previews on 18 November 2025, marking the 63rd anniversary of the Battle of Rezang La. You now see early reactions shaping the film’s momentum ahead of its full release on 21 November.

The first reviews suggest a mixed response that may affect the film’s commercial run. Many viewers agree that the film delivers strong patriotic energy, yet its 3 out of 5 rating signals a gap between expectations and execution.

Directed by Razneesh Ghai, 120 Bahadur tells the story of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati and the bravery of 120 Ahir soldiers who fought Chinese forces in Ladakh during the 1962 Battle of Rezang La. The emotional core is clear, but reactions remain divided.

Critic Joginder Tuteja rated the film 3.5 stars and praised the gripping climax and Farhan Akhtar’s nuanced performance as Major Shaitan. He also noted excessive backstories and a forced subplot for Raashii Khanna, which weakens the flow.

Bollywood Hungama’s 3-star review also strikes a balanced tone. The platform highlights Tetsuo Nagata’s cinematography and Satish Raghunathan’s background score but finds the first half ordinary, with scenes that resemble Border and Shershaah.

Another reviewer said the screenplay excels in war sequences and conflict. Yet rushed subplots and uninspiring songs like Yaad Aate Hain slow the energy and fail to engage you through the middle portions of the film.

Some viewers feel the film carries strong intensity but depends too much on Farhan Akhtar to connect with the masses. This reliance shapes how audiences respond to the larger narrative.

The film also faces backlash from the Ahir community over alleged historical distortions, adding more attention and debate to its release. These concerns are now part of the film’s social buzz.

Advance bookings remain modest, with platforms like BookMyShow showing interest from over 30 thousand users, though the numbers do not reflect in actual ticket sales. This mismatch raises questions about its box office start.

Producers remain optimistic that the 800 plus previews have boosted word of mouth among patriotic viewers. They hope this buzz helps the film secure a solid opening day performance.

Overall, 120 Bahadur stands as a sincere tribute to the heroes of the 1962 Battle of Rezang La. It may not be extraordinary, but it is positioned for a steady theatrical run once the film opens on 21 November 2025.
