Lalkaara: Aamir Khan’s Biggest Film but Wrong Timing?

Reports about Aamir Khan reuniting with Ashutosh Gowariker have been circulating for some time. The project has now taken a major step forward with the announcement of its official title. The upcoming film has been titled Lalkaara.

Apart from Ashutosh Gowariker, Excel Entertainment and Rajkumar Hirani have joined the project as producers. The screenplay has been written by Piyush Gupta and Neeraj Singh. The story is reportedly inspired by the 1952 India-Pakistan Test series.

The latest update suggests that filming for Lalkaara will begin in October 2026. If everything goes as planned, the film is expected to reach theatres in 2027. Fans are now waiting for more details about the cast and production.

The announcement has generated excitement among Aamir Khan’s fans. Many believe Ashutosh Gowariker understands Aamir’s strengths as a performer. They also point to the success of Lagaan, which became a landmark film and earned cult status over the years.

At the same time, trade experts have highlighted Ashutosh Gowariker’s overall box office record. They note that Lagaan remains his biggest commercial success, while several of his later films did not perform as expected. Even so, many believe this reunion has the potential to revive the filmmaker’s career.

Another factor attracting attention is the recent performance of sports dramas and biographical films at the box office. Despite strong content and positive reviews, several films in these genres have struggled to achieve major commercial success after the pandemic.

Following the success of Dhurandhar, audiences appear to be looking for films that balance entertainment with realism. Whether Lalkaara can meet those expectations remains to be seen. The collaboration between Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker has certainly created strong curiosity among movie lovers.
