Aamir Reunites with Iconic Director: Emotional Cricket Biopic

Actor Aamir Khan and director Ashutosh Gowariker are reuniting after 25 years for a new film. This project is a biopic based on the life of Indian cricket legend Lala Amarnath. According to reports from Pinkvilla, the movie is an emotional sports drama set during the 1947 Indo-Pak partition. The script is in advanced stages and features creative inputs from Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi.

Aamir Khan plans to shoot three films back-to-back starting in September 2026. The Lala Amarnath biopic will be the first project to begin filming. Pinkvilla reported that the team has already held several script reading sessions. Besides Aamir, the production is looking for another major actor to play the role of the cricketer’s close friend.

The third project is the highly anticipated sequel to 3 Idiots, titled 4 Idiots. This film will see the original trio of Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi return. Vicky Kaushal is reportedly in talks to join the cast as the fourth lead. The story will take a ten-year leap from where the first film ended and the sequel is expected to start filming in late 2027 after Aamir finishes his first two movies.
