Aamir Khan is reportedly teaming up with Ashutosh Gowariker for a new sports drama based on the historic India-Pakistan Test series of 1952. The latest update was shared by Variety India. The film is expected to explore an important chapter in the sporting history of both nations.
Unlike a traditional biopic, the film will reportedly focus on the emotions and atmosphere surrounding the iconic cricket series after Partition. Themes of national pride, rivalry and human emotions are expected to play a major role in the narrative.
According to reports, Piyush Gupta and Neeraj Singh are handling the writing responsibilities for the project. Aamir Khan is set to portray legendary cricketer Lala Amarnath. The actor has reportedly already started preparing for the role and is expected to undergo physical transformation for the character.
The project is being produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Reports also suggest that the script has been finalised and the production process has already received approval from Aamir Khan. Shooting is expected to begin later this year during November or December.
