Next 100-Crore Opener: Only 3 Hopes

Four months have passed so far this year. Unfortunately, we have not witnessed the arrival of any big blockbuster until now. Filmmakers are trying to deliver big films, but the scripts and storylines have left the audiences disappointed.

No one is denying the fact that Chhaava collected more than Rs. 500 crores when it was released in February 2025. But the film industry needs more films like that every month.

Moreover, the situation is worse than 2024, where a few films were able to do moderate business at the box office in the initial phase.

Meanwhile, a few big films are arriving this year, and trade experts are expecting them to create records on the first day itself.

Back in the last two years, a few films were able to collect almost Rs. 100 crores on Day 1. The list includes titles like Pathaan (106 crores), Jawan (129 crores), Animal (115 crores), GOAT (125 crores), Devara (140 crores), and Pushpa 2 (250 crores).

While people expected Sikandar to create some records, it did not happen and now all eyes are on War, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, which is arriving on August 14 this year. Based on the craze for YRF Spy Universe and War (2019), it should touch Rs. 100 crores on Day 1 or more than that.

There is also Rajnikanth’s Coolie, directed Lokesh Kanagaraj. Lokesh has always did the best in terms of his hero’s presentation and the action scenes. Moreover, Lokesh has a 100% track record, which might get repeated with Coolie.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 is also supposed to release in October this year. In case it does not get delayed for any reason, Kantara: Chapter 1 might create better records than our expectations.

There is no other big film for this year apart from these three. If things happen as per predictions, 2025 will easily add four blockbusters to its list.

But if they fail to impress audiences, maybe 2025 will turn out to be a dull year for the film industry. Let’s wait and see what happens.
