After Stree 2 & Chhaava, Back-to-Back Flops Soon?

Maddock Films is a name that is now known to everyone. The major reason behind the production company’s popularity is its horror-comedy universe, which has managed to pull huge crowds to theatres.

While they already have a long list of projects in the upcoming lineup, including eight new entries in the horror-comedy universe, some films from Maddock have not found a release date until now despite that they were announced a long time ago.

The first is Pooja Meri Jaan with Huma Qureshi and Mrunal Thakur. Notably, the filming of the project was completed a long time back in 2022 and although Maddock said that it would arrive directly on OTT, an official date is yet to be revealed.

Then there is a woman-centric film Sarvagunn Sampanna, featuring Vaani Kapoor, which was announced around two years ago. Vaani had previously confirmed the film from her side but there have been no updates so far despite that it would arrive on an OTT platform.

Dinesh Vijan also collaborated with John Abraham for a film titled Tehran, which will be released only in theatres. The announcement came back in 2022 and the film is yet to get a release date.

The same can be said for Shiddat 2, a sequel to Sunny Kaushal and Radhika Madan’s Shiddat, which arrived in 2021. The sequel would also feature Sunny alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, and the film would be helmed by Karan Sharma with Sara Bodinar working on the screenplay.

Although the release dates for these films are yet to be confirmed, most of them are looking like flops. The makers have cast faces that no one is interested in watching on the big screen or even on OTT.

While many people would say that John Abraham is a big star, they need to know that he has lost his stardom now and his solo films are not working anymore.

Considering that Dinesh Vijan is enjoying a lot of success right now with Stree 2 and Chhaava, the best option for him will be to not release these films at all if he does not want to suffer any loss.

If these films keep getting delayed, Maddock Films might lose its stronghold in the industry. While the horror-comedy universe is thriving, their other projects face an uncertain fate.

Even OTT platforms may hesitate to pick up films with low buzz and outdated relevance. If Maddock Films flopping at the box office becomes a pattern, their brand value could take a hit.

Audiences today expect fresh concepts and strong marketing. If these films fail to deliver, they could tarnish Maddock’s otherwise successful run.

It remains to be seen whether these upcoming releases can prove critics wrong or if they’ll fade into oblivion without making an impact.
