Akshara Haasan has spoken about an unexpected chapter from her school days. She revealed that she failed her Class 10 exams three times and eventually dropped out, admitting that she simply did not have much interest in studies.

Her attention was already elsewhere. Akshara got into music videos and even worked as a choreographer for friends who were dancers. She later joined as an assistant director, as her bigger ambition was to direct films.

Acting happened somewhere in between. Akshara says she felt she should try it before deciding against it, and that eventually became another part of her career. However, the wish to direct has stayed with her, and she continues to talk about getting behind the camera.

She also said there was never any pressure from Kamal Haasan and Sarika to make acting the family profession. Both Akshara and Shruti Haasan were allowed to decide what they wanted to do.

For Akshara, the interesting part is not that she eventually became an actress. It is how differently her journey began, with poor academic performance, experiments in filmmaking and a long-standing interest in direction before acting became her profession.
