Bhooth Bangla, Akshay Kumar’s upcoming horror comedy, is set to release in theatres on April 10, 2026. However, the film has already sparked controversy ahead of its release, drawing attention across social media and film circles.

The song Tu Hi Disda featuring Akshay Kumar and Wamiqa Gabbi was recently released as part of promotions. While some viewers liked the music and visuals, many pointed out the noticeable age gap between the actors.

Several users highlighted that Akshay, aged 58, romancing a 32 year old actress felt uncomfortable. This criticism quickly gained traction online, turning the song into a topic of debate among audiences and fans.

Responding to the backlash, Akshay Kumar defended such casting choices in an interview with News18. He said that similar age gaps exist in Hollywood and real life, and sometimes the story demands such pairings.

Director Priyadarshan also supported the casting decision. He explained that there is a difference between an actor’s real age and screen age. According to him, audiences often accept characters based on how they appear on screen.

He added that casting decisions are based on how a pair looks together during filming. He said he did not feel any mismatch while working with Akshay Kumar or Tabu, and believes audiences will accept the pairing after watching the film.

Despite these explanations, a section of social media users remains unconvinced. Many feel the chemistry between Akshay Kumar and Wamiqa Gabbi in the song does not work, making the age gap more noticeable.

Although the debate is currently limited to online platforms, there is speculation about its impact on box office performance. Some believe the casting choice could affect audience reception when the film releases.
