The Golmaal film franchise is returning for the fifth time, and Rohit Shetty with his entire team is ready to make a big box office impact. To enhance the appeal of the film, the makers are trying their best to include all the original cast members, from Ajay Devgan to Kunal Khemu to Tushar Kapoor, and even Sharman Joshi, who had left the film franchise at one point but has now returned.
But what has come as the biggest surprise and an exciting element for the fans is the inclusion of Akshay Kumar in the franchise in a very eccentric role. Akshay himself shared a clip of the same, stating his excitement over joining the cast of Golmaal 5.
But this has not been fully accepted by the fans, who feel that Akshay’s role does not fit in with the dynamic of the Golmaal 5 original group. Plus, the look that he has taken up for this film appears very eccentric, and many anticipate that he might not even be playing a positive role but could be the main villain.
But Akshay fans feel annoyed by this because they do not want to see their favourite artist being targeted. Many pointed out that he is a really handsome actor and should be utilised in a good light rather than being turned into a side character. Something similar happened in the Stree franchise as well, where Akshay was reduced to the mad scientist role.
One fan wrote, “I am really not impressed by this gimmicky ‘South henchman’ look for Akshay Kumar. I didn’t like how he was presented in Stree 2 either.
When you have a superstar who looks this good, why present him like a character artist in a big franchise? It makes people think that Akshay has now become a side actor.
Also, his role probably will not even continue in future movies, so it feels like a total waste of potential.”
Has repeated box office failure and an oversaturated presence turned Akshay into an insignificant addendum to a big franchise just for the sake of it? Fans have been wondering about the same ever since this announcement.
