The makers of the upcoming Akshay Kumar and Anees Bazmee film, Ram Aur Shyam, are targeting a December 2026 release. As per reports, the filming is expected to wrap up by the end of this month and the post-production work will begin shortly after.
However, there is a major concern about the timing because December 2026 is looking like the most crowded month in cinema history. Huge international blockbusters like Dune: Part 3 and Avengers: Doomsday are both scheduled to arrive on December 18, and to make things even more difficult, Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated film King is set to release on Christmas Eve.
With such massive competition, many are wondering why the makers are taking this huge risk because a family comedy needs room to find its audience. Releasing it alongside three of the biggest global and local franchises could easily hurt its box office potential, so it might be much smarter to bring this movie to theaters in January 2027 instead.
In January, the film would likely have much more breathing space and the New Year holidays would help it get a strong start at the box office. While Akshay and Anees are a proven winning combo, they still need a fair chance at the box office to succeed.
