Akshay Kumar and Sajid Khan are reportedly joining forces once again, marking a reunion that has also revived discussion around their past collaboration. The duo previously worked together on comedy films such as Heyy Babyy, Housefull and Housefull 2.

Their new untitled entertainer will reportedly bring them together nearly 14 years after Housefull 2. The reunion comes at an interesting stage for both, with Sajid returning to mainstream direction and Akshay continuing to look for stronger box-office results.

The project is reportedly associated with Ektaa Kapoor’s production banner. R Madhavan, Disha Patani and Shriya Saran have also been linked to the cast. The film is expected to be shot in London after Sajid completes his current directorial commitments.

Sajid’s return to mainstream filmmaking has attracted attention because of his career trajectory. After successful comedies early in his directorial career, films such as Himmatwala and Humshakals received poor responses and affected his run at the box office.

His career faced a bigger setback in 2018 when multiple women accused him of sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement. Sajid subsequently stepped down as director of Housefull 4, while Akshay asked the producers to halt the film’s shoot pending investigation.

Akshay later addressed the possibility of working with Sajid again. In 2019, the actor said he did not know exactly what had happened in Sajid’s case but would consider working with him again if the filmmaker were acquitted.

The reported reunion has therefore brought that old statement back into focus. It also marks the return of a director-actor combination that previously delivered successful comedy films, though audience expectations and the industry landscape have changed considerably since their last collaboration.

There is also curiosity over what kind of comedy the duo will attempt this time. Reports suggest the film will be an entertainer, but several important details about its story and final cast are yet to be officially announced.
