A latest news has revealed that Yash Raj Films is bringing Alpha on July 3, 2026, which is just a week after the comedy sequel Welcome to the Jungle. This means that Akshay Kumar has to compete with the Alia Bhatt starrer in the next week.
However, trade experts feel that Akshay Kumar has an upper hand at the ticket windows. Welcome to the Jungle belongs to a highly popular family comedy franchise, and if the film clicks with the audience, it will likely maintain a strong hold over screens for weeks. This scenario poses a direct threat to Alpha, as the action film will need a free space to recover its heavy production costs.
Furthermore, Alpha is already facing notable hurdles regarding its public reception. The film is dealing with pre-release negativity due to Alia Bhatt’s currently poor public image and recent online backlash, combined with a dip in YRF’s brand reputation following their recent box office misses.
The major problem with Alpha is that it belongs to YRF’s Spy Universe, which was heavily trolled for its one sided politics and Pakistan sympathizing storylines. Now, people have developed this mindset that every film from the Spy Universe will be promote either a specific political narrative or a forced peace angle.
It will be very tough for Alpha to break this mindset, and that is why earlier reports claimed that makers have made many changes to the film to ensure it feels politically neutral.
