Fake Extortion Racket Exposed: Bollywood Stars on Target

Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a 30-year-old Bengaluru-based IT engineer for allegedly sending extortion threats to Bollywood actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Tusshar Kapoor.

The accused, identified as Vaibhav Mishra, reportedly posed as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to threaten the actors and demand money. He allegedly contacted them through Instagram messages and voice notes.

In Tusshar Kapoor’s case, Vaibhav Mishra reportedly used the name Harry Boxer and demanded Rs. 5 crores. Ayushmann Khurrana also received threatening voice messages demanding several crores.

The threats came amid growing concern in Bollywood following the recent firing incident outside Tiger Shroff’s vehicle in Mumbai. Police suspect that the accused tried to exploit the fear created by such incidents to extort money from celebrities.

However, the investigation reportedly found no links between Vaibhav Mishra and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Cyber investigation and forensic analysis of the voice messages helped the Crime Branch trace him to Bengaluru and arrest him.
