No Abuses; Love Making & Other Scenes Cut to Half

We know how CBFC can turn ridiculous when it comes to chopping off scenes mercilessly acting as moral police instead of being a certifying agency. ‘Begum Jaan‘, the upcoming Bollywood movie starring Vidya Balan in the lead has fallen the latest victim for CBFC’s scissors.

It is learnt that at least 12 cuts were ordered by CBFC and some of the crucial scenes in the film were asked to be toned down by 50%. That leaves the makers of the film in a situation where they had to cut some important portions which may have an impact on the overall product.

50% of an intense love making scene was directed to be chopped off along with another communal violence scene. Of course, all the abuses Vidya hurls in the movie, have to be toned down. Vidya is essaying the role of a brothel house’ madame and the film is set during the times of partition of India.

Going by the role of Vidya and the backdrop, one would expect abuses and some love making scenes. But, CBFC wants a film like this to be totally like a family entertainment drama. Ridiculous!
