AI is changing the landscape of the film industry, as well as new ideas and problems, is what the Director’s Roundtable at Pinkvilla heard from Amar Kaushik, Aditya Sarpotdar, Anees Bazmee, and Vikas Bahl.
All spoke of their increasing influence, opinions about AI with cautious optimism to enthusiasm over its promises and on the limitations of AI.
AI was in preproduction and conception for all the biggest hits of the year-be it Munjya or Stree 2, or Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Dil Ka Darwaza, Khol Na Darling.
All of them mentioned they have managed to keep a human touch while accepting how AI has made chores like the world-building and creating visual references easier.
It will tell the team his vision, as discussed by Vikas Bahl while Aditya Sarpotdar was full of praise about helping him in the original creation of worlds.
Anees Bazmee also reacted in saying it’s pre-production now. Amar Kaushik reacted with no way because script coming through AI does not carry any punch related to creativities.
The panel concluded that, while useful, AI would not replace human creativity. AI, which raises productivity and gives shortcuts in creativity, cannot ever take the place of the creative element or personal storytelling which filmmaking is heavily based on.
Creativity is being made a bit more streamlined for the likes of Aditya Sarpotdar and Amar Kaushik with the introduction of AI in filmmaking, but the value lies in adding to human imagination, not replacing it. It remains a challenge to be met-between AI efficacy and creativity
