Baahubali to Dhurandhar: Why Only Bollywood Gets Trolled

Bollywood’s recent Chetak Screen Awards 2026 created several viral moments and controversies online. Some incidents triggered backlash, while others entertained audiences widely. The event quickly became a talking point across social media platforms.

One such moment involved comedian Zakir Khan, who made a witty remark during the show. He joked that filmmakers living between Bandra and Juhu in Mumbai might be jealous of Dhurandhar’s box office success. The comment instantly grabbed attention.

Zakir’s statement added fuel to an ongoing narrative that Bollywood struggles to accept the success of big films. This is especially true for blockbusters coming from South Indian cinema. The remark sparked debates across industry circles.

While some insiders felt the comment was unnecessary, trade analysts offered a broader perspective. They pointed out that such reactions are not new and are not limited to Bollywood alone. Competitive pressure exists across all film industries.

Veteran trade analyst Komal Nahta had shared a similar view years ago. When 3 Idiots, starring Aamir Khan, crossed the Rs 200 crore mark, it shook the industry. The film changed box office expectations overnight.

Nahta had famously said the success of the film caused “heart palpitations” across the industry. It highlighted how major hits often create pressure among filmmakers. This trend has continued over the years.

A similar situation was seen when S. S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion achieved massive success. The film crossed Rs 510 crore in Hindi alone. It set new benchmarks and created intense competition.

Reports also suggest that Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise and Prashanth Neel’s KGF: Chapter 1 saw similar reactions within their industries. However, these discussions did not gain as much public attention.

The ongoing narrative around jealousy often overshadows genuine appreciation within the industry. Many positive reactions remain behind closed doors. Public discourse usually highlights only one side of the story.

Whenever a film redefines scale and success, it naturally creates pressure on others to perform better. However, turning that pressure into a trolling narrative presents a limited view. The reality is often more balanced than it appears.
