The trailer for Dharma Productions’ upcoming film Chand Mera Dil has been dropped and it has a strong “been there seen that” energy all over it.
The trailer shows basically everything you expect from a romance drama. A couple in love gets separated because of a mistake, they realize they cannot live without each other, and then they try to fix things.
The main problem is that Lakshya and Ananya Panday have no chemistry in the trailer. Lakshya seems way too stiff and wooden in his performance. Ananya also struggles to show believable emotions, especially in her crying scenes.
Instead of a complex tale of relationships, it feels like another movie where the lovers blow a small issue out of proportion just to justify a breakup. There is a small chance the makers are hiding the real story and the film might surprise us. But that rarely happens with Dharma movies.
Even the music, which is usually the best part of Karan Johar films, is pretty average this time. Social media reviewers are saying it is all noise with no melody. The whole trailer gives you a feeling that the makers are trying way too hard to recreate the vibe of Kabir Singh and Saiyaara.
There are some positive reviews too, but those mostly come from paid insiders, so they cannot be trusted. Trade experts has already reported that the ground level buzz is very low. As a result of which, the film will likely have a weak start at the box office.
